I understand why people are giving up on this skill. At level 10 you unlock maple trees which you will continue to only do, since birch and willow trees profit less money and less and xp. As you level up in this skill you have to travel further away from the lumber yard while making less money and xp. Another note only being allowed to do one batch of planks at a time a slows the process down even more since it takes 5 minutes per 30 logs. You cannot que more logs and in order to start another batch you have to go retrieve your first batch then head back to the processor.

I understand the feeling at level 10 since Maple feels like the sweet spot. But actually, Willow and Birch both out earn Maple significantly once you can cut them with a Copper Axe.
The key is that higher tier planks:
- Weigh less (4lb vs 5lb) - so you carry 25% more per load
- Sell for more
- Give more logs per tree
The travel time to further zones is factored in. That's why higher tier trees give more logs per tree and weigh less. You're doing fewer total trips.
The single batch processing is intentional for balance as well. It encourages you to chop while your planks process rather than being AFK at the processor.
That said, we’re always open to feedback if the numbers feel off in during real gameplay.
