Circular Saw durability loss same as the blades

When stealing cat converters using the circular saw, the saw itself degrades at the same rate as the saw blades. 10% each cut. One would think you could get several blades worth of use from the saw similar to a mining drill/drill bits. Just seems odd you would have to replace the whole saw every time the blade goes bad.
